Penpal () is the debut novel of American author Dathan Auerbach.
Auerbach and Averbuch and Aberbach is a German surname, commonly Jewish, derived from a toponym meaning meadow-brook.
The horror-suspense novel is based on a series of creepypasta stories Auerbach posted to the r/nosleep forum on Reddit.[1] The book follows the first-person narrator as he realizes he was the focus of an obsessed stalker who tracks him throughout his childhood.
The work was first self-published in paperback on July 11, , through the author's Vultures imprint. The stories were adapted for The NoSleep Podcast's debut season in and narrated by Sammy Raynor.[2][3][4]
